Review

Doctor Tomorrow #2 is simply put a phenomenal issue, Doctor Tomorrow brings to the world of comics a sense of brightness and optimism that superhero comics have been missing for some time. It’s a straightforward coming of age sort of tale that clearly has multiple layers underneath the Silver Age aesthetic and lightheartedness. Alejandro Arbona absolutely nails the mix of modern aged humor with the vibes you usually only get from the best Silver Age Superman or high points of Fantastic Four.

Colorist Diego Rodriguez couldn’t be more on point to vividly bring Jim Towe’s energized art. The pair bring the world of Doctor Tomorrow alive in perfect unison with the narrative. Much like the themes present here, the art stylistically is unique unto itself but feels familiar. When we see the veteran heroes of the Valiant world show up the art fits them as well. The familiar faces don’t stand out like a sore thumb or look like they had to be tweaked to fit in. It’s a testament to how well Doctor Tomorrow is being crafted and how much this book though only two issues in expands on the Valiant universe while also firmly cementing its place in it.

Final Thoughts

Doctor Tomorrow brings superhero action and excitement in a way you're not gonna get from any other traditional superhero book on the shelves, it's straight up sci-fi fun that doesn't need any gimmicks to sell itself.
