Review

HOLY SHIT! I don’t think I’ve ever read a horror comic that takes you to “that edge.” The edge I’m referring to is that feeling you get in your gut, you don’t know if you’re scared, repulsed, or intrigued, but you can’t look away. Secretly, in the deepest pit of your being, you want more! I love that feeling. When you watch films like Terrifier or The Entity (82), you want more. When you read Eat My Flesh, Drink My Blood, YOU WANT MORE!

I love all genres and mediums of horror, so when the opportunity to review this book came up, I threw my name in the hat (so to speak) as I enjoyed Frankee White’s 20 Fists. Hence, I automatically knew this was something that interested me on a few different levels.

Eat My Flesh, Drink My Blood is the new standard for modern horror comics. Every inch of this book is laid out with such precision and gore that it almost makes you wonder if Clive Barker would blush if he read this. I love how there are the common horror tropes, but they are done so well that they work. Do you know why Stephen King has been around as long as he has? Because he surrounds his tropes with sustenance that matters to the story. That’s what  Eat My Flesh, Drink My Blood does. It wraps its tropes with magnificent storytelling and exciting characters. If you are going to suggest body horror, then give me body horror. Hauntings? Then give me hauntings. Whatever it is, commit, and don’t stop until the end. That’s horror, and that is precisely why this book is so good. From the first panel to the last, it promises to scare, repulse, and entertain until the end. The art, layout, writing, Eat My Flesh, Drink My Blood is a complete horror delight.

Final Thoughts

This book is why horror is exciting and intriguing. It’s nothing short of what a horror story should be regardless of medium.
