Recap

Thanos Vs Ikaris! How do The Eternals cope with the death of one of their own?

Review

Gillen and this creative team is able to create an incredibly exciting fight scene between Ikaris and Thanos. From the second I saw the last page of the first issue I’ve been looking forward to this interaction and it definitely doesn’t disappoint. This fight is able to show that while Ikaris is capable of holding his own in any fight he certainly does have his limits. When this limit gets pushed, Sprite interjects and aids him to leave.

We do get an incredible scene that explores how an Eternal can impact the life of a Human. Gillen is able to perfectly incorporate the idea of how dedicated humans are willing to be when asked for a favor by a God or someone who can be perceived as a God. I am very excited to see the inclusion of Sersi in this issue. Sersi is the prime definition of knowing how to get a room to immediately draw their eyes onto her. She has this alluring, yet stern presence. I enjoy seeing her in a role where she is respected by her peers.

Esad Ribic is able to effortlessly show how ageless the Eternals are while using scenes to show time going by. His art style would fit an Eternal in any time period depending on what the scene asks for. I absolutely enjoy the facial expressions throughout this whole issue!

Matthew Wilson does a fantastic job with the coloring throughout the issue. I love the coloring for things that glow whether it be hands or Ikaris’ eyes. The coloring of the scene with the man who spends his life looking out for a monster really stood out to me.

Final Thoughts

This creative team does a great job tying in together many different perspectives of what the Eternals experience. From intense fights to their interactions with each other to even how they interact with Humans. I have high expectations for the next issue.
