Event Leviathan #2
Batman is still on the case but this time with more help. Readers get a recap of the damage done by Leviathan while Batman briefs Red Hood. The Question battles a Leviathan agent in Sam Lane’s hospital room. Batman sends Plastic Man to retrieve the agent’s body, only to be confronted by the person running Leviathan. All of this is concluded with an awesome look at the team of detectives and their big reveal.
First I thought Event Leviathan would be a Superman story and then I thought it would be a Batman story, but by Event Leviathan #2, it is safe to say that the story line branches out further than I thought. The Question gets some more panel time, as well as a welcomed appearance of Plastic Man. I am hoping we see more of the two because the panels they are featured in are some of the most entertaining in the series.
Bendis once again does an incredible job at recapping the huge and convoluted plot, all the while progressing the story without missing a beat. Alex Maleev’s art matches this fast paced story perfectly. His style compliments the darker Batman and Question panels as well as the more lighthearted Plastic Man panels.
Overall, I loved the pacing of this issue. I started reading between dishes and other chores, but I never put it down. By the end of Event Leviathan #2 we learn a little more about the mysterious figure behind Leviathan, there is a new suspect, and we finally get to see the team Lois Lane and Batman have put together. I am extremely excited to see just what roles everyone in this issue plays.
Bendis has masterfully put together an extremely complicated plot with a still growing cast of characters all within two issues. I am completely stoked to see what happens in issue #3. I wouldn’t miss this issue or this event. Grab a copy wherever you get your books.
