Excalibur #22: No Peace

The beginning shows our team as they are being spied on by Sheriff Whitechapel, who we first met in “X of Swords.” She takes a shot, yet without hesitation Gambit is able to deflect the deadly hit. In particular I love this scene as it shows how fast the reflexes of these members are. 

Meggan is the first to be with Pete Wisdom when he is revived. While hesitant, she knows she needs to be the one to tell him the horrific reason behind his death. Being sacrificed to bring back Morgan Le Fey is not an easy revelation to accept as he panics. I absolutely adore Marcus To’s art in this scene as the reader can feel the shock that Pete is experiencing. 

With the colors from Erick Arciniega, I really loved the colors for the Wheel of Fortune card that Gambit holds in his hand. I appreciated the fact that Longshot was the character chosen for the card. 

Merlin gives off an unwelcoming and secretive aura to him in how he interacts with Saturnyne and the team. I appreciate how Howard later makes sure to have Betsy take notice and to be aware of how the personality of this Merlin is completely different from the one who worked as an ally to her brother. 

After the team is able to get away from Merlin we get a shocking twist! We see Merlin awakening Arthur who has been unaware of his true identity. He has been locked in a cage. I’m absolutely curious what Tini Howard has planned with how this reveal will come to fruition.
