Thomas Wayne has woken up in a world that should no longer exist. Now he has to find out who's murdering powerless versions of superheroes of other worlds, and he also has to figure out why and how he's on the Flashpoint Earth.

Review

You would think that after all the stories that have been published about the Flashpoint timeline, it would be tough for you to take a series like this one with a large degree of excitement or get anything new out of it. But happily, you should and you will. Returning to this timeline isn’t like visiting an old friend, it feels more like a second chance to find out even more about this Earth, and what events have happened since we last were here. Authors Jeremy Adams, Tim Sheridan, and Geoff Johns all do their best to make our visit here nothing like our first visit and I’m happy to report that they succeed. The shock of this world has worn off, so now we get to roll up our sleeves, get a scorecard out, and try and help Thomas Wayne (as Batman) try and find out why this world is back, who brought it back, and who is murdering people who had time-based powers on “Bruce’s Earth”. The authors also include some really great character development in this issue. We thought we knew these characters, but it turns out we didn’t know them 100%.

The art team of Xermanico and Mikel Janin shine bright on this issue. Okay, not really, but I think you get my meaning. The scenes are pretty dark both in tone and in the literal sense. They bring the same feel to this series as I felt with the original series. The pages are dark, and threatening, yet have a tiny amount of fun to them. This is a very exciting issue, I would recommend reading it at least a couple of times, and if you’re reading Dark Crisis, you’ll probably want to check this out as well.

Final Thoughts

An issue that you're really going to be able to sink your teeth into. Totally steeped in both present and past DC continuity. Great summer read, totally worth your time and money.
