Review
Oh man, this book does not let up on the gas, and that’s not a bad thing when author Matthew Rosenberg knows how to tell a great story while things are going on at a chaotic pace all around the main characters. I love Matthew Rosenberg’s other books, but the thing I love most that are exclusive to this book is that team dynamic. They’re not perfect for each other, they don’t compliment each other well, but despite that, they’re able to get along, work as a unit and have each other’s backs no matter what. Even though they have their differences, they won’t leave one single member behind. You don’t see that much anymore in team books. There’s always the “lone wolf” that doesn’t care about anybody else and will leave someone for dead at the drop of a hat. The villains are also a lot of fun in this story, there’s a certain zombie vibe from them, but they aren’t totally 100% disposable as they definitely have their own personalities, which makes them unique to other characters of this type. The action is great this issue, and the story gets significantly deeper into the mystery. When reading this book I totally forget that it’s very very VERY loosely tied-in to the Iron Man 2020 story. That element is a little more prevalent this issue, but it doesn’t take away from anything in the least, in fact, it’s revealed as a brand new purpose for the book itself.
Artist Juanan Ramirez does it again! Just like the last issue, he turns in some amazing work with his unique style. I hate to compare one artist to another, but his style reminds me of a little of Ron Garney’s work on Dark Horse’s Conan series. This book could have really been ruined by too much detail, but Ramirez gives it just the right amount. He also tells a visual story very well and it’s just an overall fantastic book when it comes to the art.
Final Thoughts
Another really impressive issue in this series that only gets better.
