Review

Man, what a great issue, I really like the concept of this series and this action packed issue did not disappoint. The idea that Uncle Sam is powered by belief and needing a jump start from the Freedom Fighters in this world where all hope is gone is an interesting one, and I like the attack on the Earth X Ratzi war machine a lot. I do wish we could have gotten more info on the giant robot, it seems like it probably has an Earth Prime counterpart I’m not familiar with. I love that each member of the team had a moment to shine and kicked some major butt, Human Bomb in particular is so very cool in this issue!

I love that this in depth look at Earth X is happening, I’m such a fan of exploring the multiverse and more series like this need to happen there’s so much cool stuff out in the multiverse. Like the Vampire Justice League of Earth 43, or the supernatural twilight of Earth 13, or most especially the pulpy world of Doc Fate of Earth 20, how is that not an ongoing series?! There is so much potential being squandered in the DC Universe I’m glad at least one series is happening.

The art by Eddy Barrows (with inks by Eber Ferreira and colors by Adriano Lucas) is fantastic! Panel layouts are really interesting and dynamic, helping to convey the intensity of the battle with the amazing looking giant robot. I love the way the action looks, very big budget action movie, lots of explosions, very American haha. The end of the issue when the FF hop in their ship and fly off the excitement is almost palpable even just on a page. Check it out below. Spoiler I guess? They win.

I will say I was a little upset that the cover didn’t really deliver, which can be a problem nowadays but would an awesome giant robot fight cover have been so bad? Just a personal taste thing but it bothers me when characters on the cover only appear in one panel at the end of the book.

Final Thoughts

Really fun issue, worth your time to be sure if you like alternate universe stories, or Nazi punchin!
