Review
With this issue, Thompson has Task Force X clashing with a Suicide Squad led by Peacemaker. Without hesitation, he is ready to do whatever it takes to take Task Force X down no matter what it costs. We get a lot of fun fight exchanges between various characters.
Javier Fernandez really demonstrates great skill with the fight scenes. I really enjoy the scene with the mirror master counteracting Flash with his tricks. I was highly invested with this story due to the facial expressions we get throughout this issue, especially for Flash and Clayface. I can’t stress enough how much I loved seeing Flash or Clayface in each panel that featured them. The scene between Peacemaker and Waller captivated the intense suspense a moment like that would create. The colors from Alex Sinclair continue to bring the characters alive. Hypnotic Woman has a very unique style that this artistic team is able to create.
In Black Adam. we get introduced to the fun Gold Beetle. From her perspective, we get a quick history as to why she has taken the journey to come to this moment in time. Throughout the issue we see the cast consistently being met by the Unkindness as nothing stops this force. This is a story about sacrifice in order to give birth to a better potential world that the Unkindness can’t touch.
The art by Pasarin for Black Adam was incredible from the large Raven over the planet to the panels of the cast engaging in incredible fight scenes. Jeromy Cox is really able to deliver on the colors making this a great pairing for an artistic team.
Final Thoughts
The creative team for Future State: Suicide Squad is able to execute the stressful position that Task Force X brings onto the members. It's a traumatic job that forces the team to go beyond their comfort level all for the goal of someone who has them under control. It’s an issue that will pull the heartstrings of those who have attachments for these unforgettable members. The Black Adam portion, this creative team shows us the sacrifices that heroes are willing to make in order to stop an evil force.
