Ghost Rider #6 : Friendship and Betrayal

Johnny no longer has control over Ghost Rider and has been traveling for months to fight off the new entity sharing his body. They are all inside one vessel and yet couldn’t be more disconnected. Wolverine has taken on the responsibility of assisting Johnny with removing the alien lifeform from his body. In an aggressive last resort, Wolverine sets his claws on fire to dig out the lifeform. The scene is incredibly vibrant with color. The companionship is keenly felt between both characters. They care about one another, and it is conveyed beautifully.

This book is the reason I love comic books. Not just Ghost Rider, though he is my favorite. Benjamin Percy is taking Ghost Rider to a new level without compromising the character. Wolverine and Ghost Rider are two characters who have seen it rough and fight every day to be better than what they have done in the past. Absolute job well done with this series. And, of course, there is another plot lurking on the backburner.

During all the chaos with Wolverine and Johnny Blaze, trouble is stirring with F.B.I. Agent Talia Warroad and her partner Horace Whilmer. Searching for Johnny Warroad discovers that Whilmer is not just his partner but a demon working for the devil. This book is dynamic and fun and kept me engaged the entire time. So very much the Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance I appreciate.

Percy makes sure to convey Wolverine and Ghost Rider as their authentic selves, no matter how dark that can be. The alien entity crawling out of Johnny’s head pushed beyond all expectations. Percy’s ideas were illustrated by Peebles so well that I felt like I was watching the story on television.

The story is compelling, and the artwork glistens with every word. Brent Peeples did a fantastic job bringing the story to life. The peril that Johnny and Wolverine are in with the alien lifeform captivated me from panel to panel. I would read the next series, Percy and Peeples, which both work together.
