Recap

Johnny Blaze, the most well-known Ghost Rider is getting tattooed. Now this isn't just any random tattoo, this is a magic tattoo done by a magic man. He shows Johnny his life and his past lives through each tattoo. How many riders lives can Johnny see in this session to see who he is as the Ghost Rider?

Review

The Spirit of Vengeance never dies! He lives on and evolves with time. There will always be evil in the world and a Ghost Rider will always be there to make those who prey on the innocent pay their penance. Johnny Blaze relives moments in each rider’s life as he is being tattooed by a magic man. I am not entirely sure where he came from or why he even has this ability. Reading this issue was pretty cool anyway, though. Showcasing Ghost Riders old and new from five decades of the character, Ghost Rider: Vengeance Forever is a great read for new and old readers of ol’ flame-head alike. My personal favorite is Cosmic Ghost Rider – he’s unique from his other fiery brethren and really stands out in the pack.

The art work in this book on his tattoos really shines through. The different pieces all over his body telling the story of each of the riders really magnifies how much the Rider has been through. The colors and lines really show the stories of each of the riders and I really appreciate the starting point for this new series. Even though Johnny Blaze didn’t get much of his personal story in this issue and I would like to know more especially about this mysterious tattoo artist.

I would recommend this series to anyone who appreciates the Spirit of Vengeance as much as I do. I am looking forward to understanding the story a little better. So many questions, starting with who is the magic man? How is ending on the note of reminding Johnny who he really is relevant to what’s to come? How serious is the next villain he is going to face if he has the pain of all riders with him? The story continues in Ghost Rider #6, and I cannot wait to see what happens next.

Final Thoughts

Fighting evil with an evil bounty hunter has always been fascinating. Ghost Rider: Vengeance Forever starts by showing you just how cool and amazing it is to have a hero who fights evil not necessarily with honor. Fighting fire with fire if you will. This book was good and I can't wait to see who receives the devil's bounty hunter's wrath next.
