Review
Larry Hama turns up the volume to 11-and this is only chapter 2 of this storyline!! The Joes face the first wave of invasion and get they pretty much get their butts handed to them. But, it’s far from over. Hama does his usual above-and-beyond job of excellently written story and dialogue, mixing in a little sci-fi, humor, and wisdom for good measure. What amazes me is that after 35+ years of writing this comic, Hama still writes each of these characters with a distinct personality that hasn’t changed since the first issue.
THIS is a master at work, kids.
Artist Robert Atkins, along with his faithful companion, Brian turns out another classic issue of classic Joe. Atkins must have every edge, angle, nut, and bolt of the GI Joe tech memorized. Everything looks like the toys that I had when I was a kid. Even the things that have to be updated are done in a style that lets them be instantly recognized by even a lapsed Joe fan. Another excellent issue that takes me back to my childhood from cover to cover.
Final Thoughts
Do you know what you should buy? This comic. Is it worth $4? Nope. I think it's worth about $8, so just think of it as getting it for half price. Buy it, read it, then read it again. I've read it twice all ready, and I've only had access to it for an hour.
