Recap

Left without a choice, Cassandra Price joins a group of magically powered women in the secret war against the mysterious digital daemons preying on humanity through the AI to which all mankind is connected. While she struggles to understand the increasingly ominous demands from her imperial employer and to figure out her own mysterious abilities, one thing is made certain: the consequences for failure are lethal...

Review

This series seems to get better with each issue as it continually ups the ante and brings new questions. Plus, Cassandra gets her powers!

The issue starts with a bang as the Tall Poppies deal with the fact that last issue ended with Psych getting chowed down on by a daemon. You could feel the tension and drama leaping from the page as all seemed hopeless for the Poppies only got Cassandra to discover her Oracle of Garbage powers at the last second. After the explosive action at the start of the book, the plot thickens as in the analog, Cassandra’s boss at Hermeticorp seems to have an urgent need to speak with her immediately. Somehow, at just three issues in, this series has the ability to change everything and make the reader question what is possible.

Likewise, the series art continues to get better and better with smoothly flowing lines brought to life by dazzling colors. The alternate worlds are given a depth and lives of their own while still feeling like they belong in the same story.

With exciting new developments and new mysteries surfacing, I can’t wait to see what issue #4 has in store.

Final Thoughts

An issue full of increasing drama and deep mysteries as the universe gets expanded upon and Cassandra discovers her powers.
