Review
Ladies and gentlemen, we have entered our Chris Condon Era of Green Arrow. If the energy, and entertainment of his inaugural offering are any indication of what the future holds, we are in for one hell of a run. Bringing his gripping and thought-provoking prose to the streets of Star City, you can already feel a gritty difference in the Green Arrow. Condon’s familiar pacing and fascinating character work keep readers completely entranced from panel to panel. Artist Montos cleverly conveys Condon’s message with stunning visuals that echo the story’s emotion; every scene is brought to life with spectacular detail. Not to mention the absolute joy it is getting to read a book lettered by Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou is nothing short of a joyous occasion.
The great thing about this issue is it comes across as a clean jump on point; should a new or returning reader need one. You can sense a change in Ollie, he seems more of a Charles Bronson with a helluva Grateful Dead bootleg collection. As he realizes that his beloved city has a dark past that he will have to venture into to end the reign of this new mysterious killer.
An absolute must to be added to your pull list!
Final Thoughts
How can you not be excited for this new chapter of Green Arrow!? A “golden ticket” (if you will) of storytelling and art. Such a fun start to a classic character’s new chapter.
