The Controllers’ Darkstars have gone rogue, spreading their variety of lethal justice across the galaxy, will the Green Lantern Corps be able to stem the flow, or will they be overwhelmed? The Darkstars shoot to kill, and Hal Jordan is in their sights!

What You Need to Know:
The Controllers created the Darkstar Corps as worthy adversaries to overthrow the Green Lantern Corps, no one was more surprised than them when their creations turned on them. Now the Darkstars are executing criminals across the universe, and there’s little to nothing the Corps can do about it. Hal needs to try and contact his former friend and colleague turned Darkstar, Tomar-Tu!
What You’ll Find Out:
We open on various Green Lanterns interviewing eyewitnesses across the 7200 sectors, all stories are the same, Darkstars are hunting criminals with lethal accuracy, and executing them when they find thehigh-securitysafe, not even prisoners in a high security prison!
We cut to the Four Corpsemen (Hal, Kyle, John, Guy) reporting to the guardians, John has tracked the Darkstars back to space sector one, Maltus, home of the Controllers! The Lanterns implore the guardians to take action, as they failed to do so previously. The Guardians agree this violation of fair justice needs to be addressed, and tells John to take as many lanterns as he wants and end this, easier said than done!
The large force of lanterns arrives on Maltus, as they discuss strategy John realizes a lantern is missing. Suddenly a Darkstar teleports behind each lantern and grabs them all, teleporting them all back to Mogo!
Not all the Lanterns made it back, the Darkstars took Hal! Will he get his talk with Tomar-Tu? Pick up a copy of Hal and the Corps #43 and find out!
What Just Happened? (minor spoilers)
Interesting second issue to this arc, it’s crazy how outnumbered the Green Lanterns are, and seem to be outclassed as well. I really liked Tomar-Tu’s talk with Hal, although I still maintain that him becoming the Green Lantern Corps equivalent of the Punisher seems a little out of character. Although he’s definitely been pushed past the limit by villians like Romat-Ru and Goldface. (the latter murdered his father)
The revelation of just how far the Darkstars took the Controllers down was a bit insane, the scope of all this is huge, I really can’t wait for next issue to see just who the Lanterns called for help at the end, although I have some ideas…
The art felt a little inconsistent from the usually phenomenal Rafa Sandoval, I’ll chalk it up to an off issue. Maybe I’m just a little spoiled having read a bunch of issues from the ultra talented Ethan Van Sciver lately.
Rating: 8/10
Final Thoughts:
As with last issue, this issue almost entirely hinges on previous knowledge of the characters, and might be a bad place to start for a new fan. At the same time, if you are a fan of the Green Lantern Corps this arc is great! Pick up a copy for yourself!
