The Darkstars have been defeated, the allies prevailed, Robert Venditti’s final issue has concluded his Green Lantern run! What’s next for the largest standing police force in the universe?

Synopsis:
We open right where we left off last issue, in a pitched battle between the entire Green Lantern Corps, their allies, and the Darkstars. Hal Jordan and Tomar tu are still within the planet fighting for their beliefs while John Stewart and the others hold off thousands of Darkstars.
Out in the battle the soldiers argue with John’s no kill order, the Darkstars aren’t following the same code of conduct, John argues that the universe needs to see that the Green Lantern way works. They can’t stoop to the Darkstar’s methods.
Review: (minor spoilers)
Great end to the arc, my only complaint is there isn’t much closure for the series, I might have liked more of an epilogue as the Darkstars were basically beaten last issue. Not to say that there are a ton of loose ends I might have liked a bit more resolution with the Sinestro Corps, although there was a small snippet in Justice League #5 where Soranik told Sinestro the Sinestro Corps are helping the Green Lanterns hold the gap in the source wall.
As far as the changes that were made at the end of this issue, I can’t wait to see the new Lanterns, as the Green Lanterns released a bunch of rings to find new recruits, which is always exciting. Not to mention Hal returned to Earth and a certain someone for the first time in a while. Interesting…
Pencils in this issue by Rafa Sandoval, accentuated by Jordi Tarragona’s inks, are unbelievable, with the constructs being especially entertaining, which many artists seem to miss, it’s really great to see the Lanterns constructs take on aspects of their personalities, with Guy conjuring a wrestling turnbuckle to smash an opponents head into or John making a rifle to fire. The fight between Hal and Tomar tu looks particularly good with a ton of shading and detail, they clearly worked on this for a while. Also, holy crap Carol Ferris has never looked better. Once again the letters by Dave Sharpe are the best in the business for the third issue in a row.
I did like the way Zod eventually lost his temper which is very true to form, and I’m glad they acknowledged his hatred of Tomar Tu, whose father was in charge of Krypton’s sector when it exploded, Zod blames the Green Lantern Corps for not helping, not that he would have accepted it haha.

Final Thought:
Sorry to see this series end, but nothing good lasts forever, the story continues in Dan Jurgens’ Green Lanterns run (beginning with issue #50 out last month) and Hal will be appearing in Grant Morrison and Liam Sharpe’s Green Lantern series beginning this November. Coool. I’m gonna miss Venditti, fingers crossed he gets my numerous tweets about a Guy Gardner/ Arkillo Team up mini, because I still want that.
