Review
Oh man, is it good to have comics back! And honestly, it’s nice to be able to review comics again, especially when it’s the MOST fun book that Marvel’s putting out right now. I hate to sound like a broken record (look it up, kids), but Matthew Rosenberg is the reason that you should run out and grab this book. Wait, sorry. This book is digital only, so just open up a new tab and read it!
For four issues this book has been continuously building to..something. We’re not quite sure if it’s a showdown with the Hood, or maybe the Kingpin, maybe it’s a confrontation with his fellow Avengers? We finally get to showdowns this issue and it couldn’t be more entertaining. Clint not only brings the hammer down on the Kingpin, but there’s also some confrontation with the Hood and also the Avengers. This reminds me of an older comic strictly due to the fact that there’s so much reading. You really get your money’s worth storywise, and it’s a really gripping story as well. The kind where you can’t wait to turn the page to see what happens next. Rosenberg also includes a very big dose of humor in this book and that’s what makes this issue a classic Marvel comic.
Artist Otto Schmidt couldn’t draw a bad page even if he wanted to. His style fits this book like a glove and any other artist wouldn’t have nearly the same impact as Schmidt. In this issue particularly this issue is the effect that mood has on this issue. Through his backgrounds, Schmidt brings such a feeling of suspense to the book through his backgrounds. There’s always something going on, and I don’t mean some sort of action that distracts you from the main story, I mean things like weather and a nighttime setting. He’s a master at making comics look good.
Final Thoughts
Five in a row!!! I can't believe how consistently fantastic this book is. There hasn't been a bad one yet. That's something you can't say for almost any other comic coming out right now.
