He-Man & the Masters of the Multiverse #6
On the far off world of Anti-Eternia, Anti-He-man has taken control of Castle Grayskull and has taken off to conquer all the planets in the Multiverse. Prince Keldor has gathered a handful of the Masters of the Multiverse to track down and stop him.
Comic mini-series is never as fun as an ongoing series. On one hand you want to read the conclusion of this awesome comic, but on the other hand, getting it means that there’s not going to be any more issues. That’s exactly the case here. Writer Tim Seeley has tossed everything and the kitchen sink into this mini-series that spans the multiverse looking for the one He-Man that can stop the Anti-He-Man from taking it all over. We’ve met everyone from the He-Man from the cartoon that we all know and love to the He-Man from the 1987 movie and many more. It’s been a blast watching them join forces to try and stop the evil He-Man who’s out of control killing spree has left many worlds devastated. This issue is the ultimate battle of good vs. evil and Seeley doesn’t disappoint. Seeley uses every square inch of this property that there is and turns out one heck of a concluding issue with such insane surprises, I had to read the book twice just to take them all in. Just when you think you know the ending, Seeley surprises you by throwing a ton of surprise characters in the last ¼ of the book. Besides that there’s a really great epilogue to the book that wraps everything up nicely.
Artist Tom Derenick, in a perfect world, would be nominated for an Eisner. BUT it’s not a perfect world, so I’m not going to hold my breath. As he has all through this series, Derenick draws in about fifty different art styles this issue and they all look flawless. He even creates some new characters that don’t belong in any of the universes we know, but they all look like they belong somewhere, and by one figure alone he takes you to those places, where your mind goes wild imagining just what and who lives there. It’s amazing storytelling.
A great ending to an unbelievably awesome series. Crossing my fingers that we're going to get more comics by this creative team
