Hexagon Bridge #3: What Waits for Us in Other Realities?

Hexagon Bridge #3 is a strong entry into this unique series from Image Comics. The art continues to be impressive and imaginative, and the story is sure to appeal to fans of science fiction and mind bending tales.

There’s a succinctness to this series that I believe needs to be commended. Writer and creator Richard Blake has masterfully crafted a story that gives just enough detail to ‘wow’ readers and also a limited amount to allow imagination to fill in gaps. 

Issue 1 presented the problem: parents lost in an alternative dimension and their child’s telepathic abilities may be the key to saving them. Issue 2 moved forward in time, introducing readers to Staden, the artificial intelligence robot that is aiding Adley in the rescue mission. Now, with issue 3, Staden has been transported into the alternate dimension holding Adley’s parents and the mission is proving to have surprises. 

While Adley and her parents are the major players in the overarching story, Staden is having a moment to shine and possibly experience what lurks on the other side.

The writing doesn’t waste the readers time and there is only the necessary amount of dialogue to allow for the story to be understood. It’s this pacing from Blake that moves the story but also allows for the art to have its moment to shine.

Visually each issue has been stunning with impressive designs, beautifully rendered panels, and hints of isolation that are somber and eerie. The world created by Blake, is a character on its own—with subtle details that give personality depending on what reality is being witnessed.
