Recap

Review

The first issue was pretty great; however, honestly, I did not like Hulkverines #3. For the most part, this is a comedy troupe with a bunch of silly things going on. This book goes out of its way to make Captain America and Black Widow ineffective. It implies that Hulk and Wolverine are useless. Weapon H’s character continues to grow at other’s expense and we see a new power as he can now shoot out his claws. Does this mean that the adamantium can regenerate or be reassembled? I have been enjoying the Weapon H books, but Hulkverines #3 falls an utter disappointment from its counterparts and does not seem to be within the current Marvel Universe continuity of the Immortal Hulk and Wolverine.

For me, I am just going to treat this miniseries as a “What if” type of storyline and put it aside. Greg Pak has a pattern of beginning a book with awesome tones and then it seems that he gets board or loses interest somehow and his work quality begins to dwindle down. Don’t get me wrong, Pak has some awesome work out there, like World War Hulk, however, it seems that his heart is no longer in the comic book industry.

The art is good; however, this doesn’t seem to be up to Guiu Vilanova’s standards. If you follow Vilanova, we know that he is extremely busy with interviews, does a lot of art for comic book statues, and so much more. I enjoy and respect Vilanova’s work, but this Hulkverines #3 seems to imply that he is being stretched too thin.

I just hope that as Pak and his team continues with Weapon H, we see a turn of quality or they may lose the established fans of this character.

Final Thoughts

Treat this as an "What if" and enjoy it for what it's worth.
