Ice Cream Man #43 – 24 Flavors Of Tasty Horror

Ice Cream Man #43 continues to push the envelope of the series with 24 single page stories from W. Maxwell Prince and some special guest contributors.

Prince does 12 of the 24 stories which range from the multi-paneled stories to prose to perhaps the scariest, most frightening of all the front page of the New York Times about the 2024 Presidential election with single text box ” Sometimes the sequel is much scarier than the first one.” The prose piece “For Sale” tells the story of a longer than normal pregnancy stands out along with the full page spread stories Candy World and Well, Well, Well which allow Morazzo to run wild with a massive and beautifully illustrated page that showcase O’Halloran’s vibrant colors.

The contributions from Grant Morrison, Deniz Camp, Zoe Thorogood, Matt Fraction, Kelly Sue DeConnick. Jeff Lemire, Frank Barbiere, series letterer Old Good Neon and Patton Oswalt bring thier own brand of storytelling to thier contributions which are also brought to life by Morazzo and O’Halloran in the Ice Cream Man tone and feel.

Old Good Neon’s story A Taxonomy Of Old Timey Diseases is really unique and requires the reader to spend quite a bit of time to fully take in everything on the page.

There is not one single bad story in the whole issue as each story is unique in the approach to and way they define what horror stories can be.
