Recap

The Narrator finally sees the writing on the wall in regards to his boss's big plans. Luckily for Colossus, he's got a pretty good idea about the ending of this story.

Review

All of Percy’s threads are coming together, tightening the noose around Mikhail’s already straining neck. This is, as one can imagine, a profoundly satisfying process to watch, and the fact that it looks like Colossus will have a chance to author either some mercy or some vengeance of his own makes this script even sweeter.

The fact that The Narrator appears to have some reality warping abilities (and the implication that these abilities are transmittable) is deeply interesting — as is the revelation that Dr Strange made about the nature of Mikhail’s own reality-altering abilities. The connection between his powers and Colossus’s seemingly more limited transformations sews some seeds for a possible power upgrade for Poitr, and that could be very fascinating indeed.

Other nice notes involve the deepening friendship between Sage and Domino. Seriously, I need them to go on a road trip together. Stat. But if I can’t have that, I’ll settle for watching them take down Orchis all by their lonesome.

Robert Gill’s art was as stylistically strong and arresting as usual. His scenes in Mikhail’s deeply creepy pocket dimension were especially beautiful. Once again, he really had fun with the meta-art. Colossus was channeling Goya’s Black Paintings in a major way. Gill really brought the ‘Saturn Devouring His Son’ energy. Guru-efx’s colors were dark and luscious, layering shocking splashes of blood against the inky black of space do that the gouts glimmered like jewelry. Visually, it’s a stunning book.

Final Thoughts

Percy is really bringing his bloody brew to a boil. This issue signals the beginning of the end for a certain Russian, and it's been a long time coming.
