Recap

The end has come, Gilad has returned from the Deadside with a cure for the necromantic plague killing the Earth and the Geomancer. As The Geomancer revives seemingly more powerful than ever before to face Imperatix Virago and her ilk in a final showdown...we're left wondering if the cure wasn't worse than the disease. The ramifications of Gilad's desperate actions are assured to reverberate through the Valiant landscape sooner than he might expect.

Review

The Paknadel/Diggle duo wrap up one insane rollercoaster ride with an ending does not disappoint in the slightest. In what is arguably the most vivacious and enthralling event since The Valiant, Incurison knocked this one so far outta the park I’m pretty sure the ball landed in another timezone. Everyone involved truly gets their time to shine regardless of what side of good or evil they stand on.

Doug Braithwaite quite literally pulls no punches here either. The battles are drawn as beautifully as they are barbaric. We truly get a sense of borderline suicidal bravado and determination as Doctor Mirage squares off with Virago, which when one takes into account she’s not usually an action oriented character yet is totally believable here shows how well the creative team put these pages together. Even after I finished reading I was eager to go back over the battle scenes throughout the book just to enjoy the quality of the mayhem in its pages.

Final Thoughts

Simply put if this is how Valiant is kicking off the summer, I'm struggling not to fanboy hype out over how good the rest of their plans will be.
