What would you do if you could travel between the life you live now and the perfect distillation of the one you’ve always desired? Would you remain who you are, or would you change for the worse? It’s a question with a myriad of answers, but debut creators Will Davis & Antimo DeRocco III have set out to pinpoint a poignant response to that query in their new comic series, Dichotomy.
Inspired by their own lives and set in the city of Philadelphia, the series follows college student Marshall Hurston as he starts to slide deeper into a state of existential aimlessness in a world where discovering purpose is an enigma. As the creators have expressed:
“Set between two parallel universes, Marshall Hurston is living two different lives: One where he is discontent and struggling to find purpose, and another where everything is perfect, and life is carefree. As each counterpart navigates distinct world views and environments, they must decide whether to follow a path of light or a path of darkness. It’s a coming-of-age story with a multiversal twist that examines harsh societal truths and begs the question: What happens when you turn a blind eye?”
Below, you can read the initial five pages of the upcoming series, premiering as a story exclusive at Ron’s Comic World on August 5th, 2023. Stay tuned for plans regarding broad release and crowdfunding.
