Spotlight Review:

From Image Comics and an all-star creative team featuring writer Ivan Brandon and artists Esad Ribic and Nic Klein comes a magnificent sci-fi gladiator comic that simply must be seen to be believed. The story focuses on a struggling superstar soldier set in a world that pushes the boundaries on how war can be waged, exposing unexpected implications for both the individuals and their nations.

Although the story is compelling, the series’ real brilliance is found in the impeccable art direction provided by Esad Ribic and Nic Klein. The two manage to capture an epic sense of grandeur on a scale very rarely seen in comic books. There are multiple breathtaking panels that will undoubtedly have readers absolutely fascinated.

Image Comics delivers yet another outstanding series with VS that features a powerful story alongside some of the most awe-inspiring artwork available today. VS #1 is out digitally and in stores now, with issue #2 set to release on March 14th, 2018.

This is one that shouldn’t be missed out on!

“We’re in an environment where war has been contained and privatized, it’s a spectator sport where the wins and losses are publicly tracked and have positive and negative effects on the sponsor nations. A lot of it centers on Satta Flynn, who is basically the perpetual conquering hero. And we’re gonna follow him and see what happens both to him and the system that supports him when he loses.

Buy our book. Nobody’s ever seen Esad at this level. Nic Klein is painting his art and it’s just overwhelmingly fantastic. Come out and play with us. This is the kinda comics we all wanted to make when we were kids.” – Ivan Brandon
