Infinity Wars #3
Gamora – the adopted daughter of the great THANOS, a misguided assassin, became a heroin as a key member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, now turned villain! As Requiem, Gamora has committed the unthinkable, she easily slew THANOS, emotionally killed Star-Lord, and defeated the Avengers!
Beholder of the Infinity Stones: Gamora skillfully used the Infinite power and reclaimed the missing part of her soul, but at what cost? She has the cosmos in chaos and torn her family, the Guardians of the Galaxy, completely apart. Now, a new chapter begins with Loki, the God of Mischief complicating Gamora’s intentions.
Infinity Wars #3 has taken a stunning twist to this major Marvel event. Standing triumphant, Gamora anticipates that the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will continue to oppose her new found power. Instead of killing the Avengers, she unleashes a creative, but ruthless plan to keep them busy. She rewrites reality by creating a whole new universe, “Warpworld” within the Soul Stone. Every soul is merged with another and it appears to be random at first…but is it really?
As Loki observes, there’s a sense that Gamora has achieved what Thanos failed to complete. Like her father, Gamora has “halved the number of souls”, but creatively and without additional killings. Loki has a reputation of “acts” of good will but always exposed through self-absorbed reasons. Gamora is powerful and skeptical but has she may still have been fallen into a trap by creating Warpworld. What will be revealed as Loki explores this strange new reality?
Gerry Duggan does a good job in showcasing Gamora as the powerful worrier that she was trained to be. After the past two shocking issues, I found Infinity Wars #3 the weakest with the only purpose is to promote the new fusion of characters for readers who are curious about those upcoming spin-offs.
Mike Deodato Jr. artwork is solid as always. Unfortunately, there aren’t enough action scenes to show off his abilities. Deodato creates some awesome fleshy images that stand out as characters are merged together.
Remember this is only issue three of six; the answers should be in the near future. This issue finally answers “who are the Infinity Warps?” that we have been teased over the last two months. Get excited for the next issue as well as the spin-off titles being released between now and December.
