Infinity Wars #4: Reality Mashup

The triumphant Requiem has merged key heroes together to formulate Iron Hammer, Soldier Supreme, Weapon Hex, Ghost Panther, Archknight, and more. It’s time to enter Warpworld and learn the next developing phase in saving all that was lost.

Gerry Duggan utilizes Infinity Wars #4 as a transitional issue for not only to lead into a greater story, this also provides some imagination for a “What if” type crossover stories, which are soon to be released. I am so stoked to read the storylines as Duggan highlights a sense of humor while some of the heroes discover they’ve been mashed together.

The Logan-Stone or “Emmarine”, as Loki names the mashup was so cool, especially when “Emmarine Phoenix Force” appeared. However, it was disappointing to me that this resulted in splitting the characters back to Emma and Logan. Now that the Logan-Stone is back to once were, how does this affect the future Phoenix Force? Altering quantum mechanics makes me go hmmmm. The concept of “time” is a weird one, and the world of quantum physics is even weirder. There is no shortage of observed phenomena which defy our understanding of logic, bringing into play thoughts, feelings, emotions – consciousness itself, and post-materialist view of the universe.

Dugan’s skills of creativity often have me rolling, however, there is a major flaw or maybe I missed something. Somehow, Requiem is no longer the beholder of the Reality Stone. When, how, and why is it no longer in her possession? What did I miss?

The act of love during what seems to be the final moments of Phyla-Vell and Moondragon expresses the importance of diversity in the Marvel continuity. However, what is the significance to this specific storyline? If Dugan could explain how Requiem lost the Reality Stone, maybe that would be the answer to that question.

Mike Deodato Jr ‘s artwork along with Frank Martin’s colors are fantastic, especially in the designs for the mashed up characters. The panels flowed to keep the story flowing and kept me interested.
