What You Need to Know:

The Red Lantern Corps have attacked Oa with Starro the Conqueror in tow. His spores taking over a number of Green Lanterns, including the Guardian Sayd. Despite the Titans arrival, casualties continue to mount and the group is forced down to the surface of Oa to bolster their defenses. Unfortunately, they can’t wait long as Starro and the Red Lanterns concentrate their fire on the Central Power Battery. Piercing the barrier created to stop the attack with ease.

What You’ll Find Out:

As the smoke clears from the Red Lanterns assault, the Central Power Battery is shown to have actually been breached by the attack. Seeing this, the Guardians divert all their attention to keeping the hole sealed. If all it’s power were to get out, all Green Lanterns across the cosmos would become powerless. The Lanterns prepare to defend the Guardians against the next attack. But Superboy brings up that Starro is leaving. Arisia claiming it’s because the planet has been conquered. But Hal Jordan doesn’t believe that and requests a Ring. Calling back to his original sentence in saying that he wants to die fighting the Red Lanterns rather than doing nothing.

Reinstated into the Green Lantern Corps, Hal Jordan convinces them to reenlist Sinestro as well. That given the threat they’re facing, leaving him in a cell when he could be helping is foolish. Saalak once more delivers another Green Lantern Ring before they head into space. Their main objective to free Sayd from Starro’s control. As the battle rages around them, Superboy asks Wonder Girl to deal with him should he be controlled by Starro. Not to kill him but to disable him since she is in all likelihood the only person on their team currently capable of the feat. Them dating was a side-bonus.

Despite the ongoing war, Booster Gold catches up to Blue Beetle who is seemingly abandoning ship. Blue Beetle is trying to think where Starro would be going given that he’s now fueled by the Red Lanterns rage. Together, they rationalize that Starro is going to be getting revenge against Earth. The one place that had defeated him. Back on Oa, Lobo has finally regained his legs. Salaak is surprised Lobo didn’t follow the others to the war but Lobo states the obvious. He can’t fly and his last pair of legs flew off into space with his Motorcycle. Salaak laments that they’re losing Lanterns and need more reinforcements. Lobo does a fake cough to get Salaak’s attention. Seeing no other option, he welcomes Lobo to the Green Lantern Corps…

What Just Happened?

The Lanterns are fighting a losing war while Blue Beetle & Booster Gold go to save Earth. Seeing the Green Lanterns on the losing end of another war is unpleasant but even more believable now than before. They’re a shell of their former selves and thanks to Starro, they no longer have the numbers advantage to make up for being weaker. While the art and setup are awesome the chapter itself didn’t have much actually happen. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s not a filler issue but more of a Segway one. Now we get to wait and see what unholy hell Lobo brings to the Red Lanterns.

Rating: 7/10
Final Thought: Having the title for next issue being “Lobo shouldn’t have a Power Ring” on the same page he gets the Ring is an awesome touch. Like they are already regretting the decision. I can only imagine how much of a threat to everyone he’ll be now.
