Review

This issue, authors Vita Ayala & Danny Lore wrap-up the big fight that started the last issue, and believe me it’s one giant fight. If this was a Bond movie, this would be the 20-25 minute fight towards the end of the movie. The fight itself is ambitious, but at times it’s pretty hard to follow. Movie action doesn’t translate well to the comics medium sometimes, and vice-versa. Ayala & Lore tell a pretty good story during this issue, but it sometimes gets confusing because it’s told in chunks in between pages and pages of action scenes. The authors do set up some really big threats for the future, which was probably the most fun part of the issue. We also get a little bit of Double-O “office” stuff with M & Moneypenny, but for the most part, the main focus lies with Bond’s secret agent colleague, who we now know more than we have ever known about Bond, which is exactly the way it should be.

This issue’s art is by Erica D’Urso with Marco Renna. I’m not sure which artist did which part or if it was all a collaborative effort, but there are definitely pages of the book that look different from the others and I wish I could say that was a good, or even neutral, thing. Unfortunately some pages this issue look far below par when it comes to the art that this series has had. This might’ve been a case of people crunched for time or a heavy workload, so hopefully, the art will return to the high standard that we’re used to next month.

Final Thoughts

An okay issue. Everybody has an off-day and that includes comic creative teams.
