Review

Fabian Nicieza does something few writers bother to do anymore this issue. He ties this book into continuity! In a single issue we know where the Juggernaut was after Magik banished him to Limbo in Matt Rosenberg’s X-Men series, get a small nod to his time in the phenomenal Punisher Kill Krew and still acknowledge that he’s trying to funnel mutants to Krakoa! Awesome, truly. I like the way flashbacks to Limbo are interspersed throughout and the end tease got me really excited.

The line art by Ron Garney has an interesting scratchy quality to it that doesn’t obscure the art’s intent (I had some trouble with that on the arc he drew in Savage Sword of Conan in 2018) and displays movement well. The fight scenes in particular flow nicely. The colors by Matt Milla are vibrant and interesting around D-cel which is nicely countered by a fairly somber palette used on Juggernaut with his new predominantly black armor. The letters by Joe Sabino flow nicely with a lot of solid sound effect work throughout and some creative neatness when things slow down, also don’t know if he did that main title logo but that is a chunktacular masterpiece of a logo, I love it. Also, don’t know who does general formatting, Garney maybe? But I love the black panel borders, so kudos to whomever is responsible for that.

Final Thoughts

All in all I highly recommend this book to anyone who's even remotely interested in Juggernaut, or good comics, this was a fun book.
