Review

The action-packed sixth issue of Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong (written by Brian Buccellato with art by Christian Duce, colors by Luis Guerrero, and letters by Tyler Smith and Richard Starkings) is likely the most awesome book you can pick up on shelves this week. This issue has everything you could ask for. From several Justice League members fighting without holding back, Monster Titans, a MechaGodzilla, and giant robots- there’s so much to love about this issue!

The issue kicks off with the Justice League debriefing the capture of Godzilla and planning for the incoming fight with the other Monster Titans. These pages offer a good setup for readers just jumping into the series and balances the full-blown action to come. One of the most exciting things about this comic is the amount of DC Universe characters that make a cameo. In these opening pages, we see over 25 heroes and villains alone. It sets the scope of this mini-series as you see that the Monster Titans are a Universe damaging threat.

The issue wastes no time getting to the action as we see Lex Luthor has taken over MechaGodzilla and the beacon has called the Monster Titans to Metropolis. The action sequence is the bulk of this issue and is some of the coolest action I’ve seen. We get a fight between MechaGodzilla (controlled by Lex Luthor) and a giant Batman robot- is that not the coolest thing you’ve heard? The Green Lanterns also form a giant robot themselves as they fight Scylla. Other heroes have taken to hand-to-hand combat with these Titans. The action in this issue is out of this world. Artist Christian Dune and colorist Luis Guerrero created beautiful splash pages and panels full of action. I have never seen a comic issue that looks this awesome. This is paired with Brian Buccellato’s great writing which helps set the tone of the issue. Buccellato does a fantastic job of balancing the action of the fighting with shocking and heartbreaking moments. This issue is everything this mini-series title has promised it to be: fun, action-packed, and totally awesome.

Final Thoughts

This is the most action-packed and explosive comic you will pick up this week. The issue is nothing less than awesome and filled with Monster Titans, superheroes, Power-Rangers-esque Megazords, and MechaGodzilla!
