Marvel’s rag-tag heroes are at it again. Kingpin has a job that is pretty much a suicide mission. They must kill Knull. Easy…right?

Review

Knull rages on with aspirations of complete dominance earth’s heroes are falling fasting than rain in a hurricane. Not many are left to toe the line in this hopeless battle to save the world. So it seems it was just a matter of time before Wilson’s Thunderbolts were unleashed upon the battlefield. The Thunderbolts are going to need a helping hand, however, the hand that has presented itself gives them skeptical thoughts.

As our heroes set out on their journey they are promptly met with Knull’s soldiers and this is where Matthew Rosenberg’s take on the Thunderbolts falls in line with the solid lineup of King in Black tie-ins by keeping in line with the main story while giving readers something to sink their teeth into. From the familiar demeanor of Willson Fisk and his heavy-handed ways to the team roaming the streets in search of their bounty, and delivering a few light chuckles along the way, this book definitely should be on your hands as we journey through King in Black.

Whether in the main story or in the tie-ins it seems that big last-page endings are a trend and I hope they keep it up. The whole King in Black storyline has been top-notch and so has the tie-ins. All around fun and phenomenal creative teams and Thunderbolts is no exception. The team of Matthew Rosenberg, Juan Ferreyra, and Joe Sabino combine forces and delivered on every aspect of what a comic should be..

Fun, exciting, and a great ability to keep the reader interested.

Final Thoughts

At times Rosenberg’s offering feels like a modern-day Goonies story with super heroes and it works! What he manages to pull off towards the end and at the end with the reveal with a huge tease just cements what I said earlier about this book and its creative team. Don’t miss out on King in Black: Thunderbolts #1.
