Recap

More hellfire and brimstone than Jim Ross yelling at ringside; King Spawn wants revenge, and that’s what he’s going to get.

Review

Imagine 20,000 Slayer fans chanting SLAYER, SLAYER, SLAYER… and a cover band dressed as Brittany Spears comes out singing Hell Awaits. This is the amount of pissed-off rage that King Spawn is, and I’m here for it!

At this point in the game, you shouldn’t be surprised at what is going on. You know Sean Lewis is going to take you on a mental trip at the brain while Javier Rodriguez continues to make your skin crawl with amazing visuals that will keep you up at night with one eye open. There’s a beautiful struggle currently going on within Al that dares ask the question, what would you do in this situation? The struggle for power is as old as time itself.

Power of what? The world, heaven, hell, your mind! If revenge is sweet then KING SPAWN #11 is Wonka’s factory turned to 11! As the story unfolds we see Al consumed by unfettered rage as he calls upon his military training to assist in his plans of pain, death, and victory. With Lewis’ continued deep dive into all areas of Al’s existence, including his military service, he dares to mix human emotions with demonic rage. This is put on gory display as King Spawn is “paying a visit” to Tremor; it was at this point I fell to my knees doing my best Wayne and Garth impression, yelling “we’re not worthy” at the feet of Javier Fernandez. I don’t want to give too much away to the folks who have not read this issue yet, however, this is some phenomenally brutal work by all involved.

Final Thoughts

Bottom line, no one is doing what Lewis, Fernandez, and Plascencia are doing.
