KISS: Zombies #4: Get Me Out of this Rock ‘n’ Roll Hell!

As I’m sitting here writing this review of KISS: Zombies #4, I have Alive II playing in the background, I figured it is appropriate to listen to one of my favorite KISS records while writing about one of my favorite KISS comics. That’s right folks, this issue has tons of great stuff to sink your teeth in. Ethan Sacks continues to tap into KISS and their schtick while writing a pretty cool zombie story.

KISS, Crusher, and Laila are headed to Cleveland, seeking out the big secret. Still reeling over the loss of their friend Hank from issue #3 Crusher decides to take his frustration out on the band and blames them for Hank’s death, however, is that really the case. As we recall from the end of issue #3…Crusher has an ulterior motive, more on that later. As they descend on Cleveland tracking the signal that leads Laila and her friends to KISS originally, the band came only assume that signal is coming from the one place. As Gene states that the signal can only come from a place notorious for sucking the life out of Rock n Roll…The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame! Now, this is where, as I mentioned before about Sacks writing this book, he has a knack for keeping this as KISS as possible. From wordplay on songs, and now we get a “jab” at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. LOVE IT!!! KISS and company are greeted by a band of people that are dressed in tattered clothes and KISS face paint.

A KISS Army perhaps (Ethan Sacks for the win, folks!). Now, this is where we start getting some good reveals. A hologram of Gene appears and explains where and how the virus originated and states that if you are getting the message that “there is hope and people are ready to take up arms”. Well, remember when I mentioned Crusher…well, guess who has lead KISS and Laila back to New Detroit.
