Livewire #5

Recap
Revitalized to focus on being a symbol of protection for the Psiot people, Livewire finds herself launching her one-woman war against PSEP. The Psiot Safety and Education Program, is a government funded front that aims to turn children into weaponized pawns. Amanda McKee aka Livewire ain't having that.
Review
This issue is relatively light in weight compared to the previous arc, being a much more standard superhero story. That being said the quality has diminished not one iota. The addition of fan fav artist Kano is a perfect change to this new era in Livewire’s life.
Vita does an amazing job making the typical faceless crooked government baddies something that actually makes sense. Yes they’re totally bad guys and their methods are deplorable but the way them employ them is grounded and believable. We’ve seen Psiots take on villains of this flavor before with the many pulse pounding tales spun from Harada’s Harbinger Foundation but this doesn’t feel like a rehash or a tired copy.
Vita Ayala slaps just the right ingredients together to give us the good ole fashioned hero vs villain throwdown we love and the character needed, while putting the perfect coat of paint on it to avoid feeling tired or cliche.
Final Thoughts
To be honest there's not too much that need be said about this issue. It's solid from beginning to end, new reader friendly and just great superhero action while not being brainless or boring. If you weren't already convinced Vita Ayala is on to something great here then she's just dropped yet another reason why you should be.
