Recap

The Eisner-nominated creative team that brought you a fantastic parable of adolescence in the Midwest, the story of an artist who embraces darkness a little too closely, and the tale of a gunslinger with too much grit to stay buried brings you a classic yarn spun in the star-kissed threads of the cosmic DC Universe.

Show business and Lobo had concussive creative differences, so he and Dawg are back to bounty hunting

Comic Watch Reviews:

Kara Zor-El and Lobo Lo-Bo finally meet again, and this date is going to be one for the record, boo — yeah, we said date, prove us wrong!

We’re hearing that the solicit text for the Summer of Supergirl Special proves us wrong… Well, who are you going to believe?

Right, yeah, that makes sense… But whose story is going to be more fun?

The same story, told two ways?

Rushamon to your local comic store, and order them both now!

It’s the crossover we planned before you could demand it as a blond, a bounty hunter, and a big dawg walk into a bar in Lobo #4

Review

Lobo #4 finds a newly -registered Main Man back in the bounty hunting game following his failed reality television stint and questionable psych review last issue. Young wastes little time getting Lobo a new contract which lands him on the doorstep of one of Superman’s storage facilities, now a theme restaurant.

Ocean’s Eleven this job isn’t as Lobo and his associate prepare for a Fortress of Storag-tude smash-and-grab. As the duo are breaking in Supergirl shows up and things really get interesting. And as expected the fists and verbal jabs fly. Young’s dialog between the two is great with Lobo referring to Supergirl as The Galaxy’s Favorite Kar-en and Kara giving it back just as good. The repartee between the two flows well and feels natural and authentic even though it is a bit absurd, which is expected from Lobo.

Corona’s art and Beaulieu’s colorwork are the attraction here , especially the full page spread showing Lobo and his pal breaking into the basement where thier prize is being stored. Corona’s Supergirl works nicely and let’s here feel more a part of the environment, rather than her being a neatly drawn version.

It was a slight disappointment that the issue is more of a lead in to the Summer Of Supergirl Special, but also works so that it wont be carried over into the next issue of this series (which would have been fine also).

Final Thoughts

This issue of Lobo hits all the right comedic beats expected in a meeting between these two frenemies as the fistacuffs and verbal sparring flies.
