Marvel Zombies: Dawn of Decay #2: Hulk Smash Long-Haired Hippie God

Marvel Zombies: Dawn of Decay #2 is the second installment of the plant-zombie apocalyptic event as part of the Halloween celebration at Marvel.

Groot and Hulk continue their journey cross NYC to Avengers Tower in hopes of finding a cure or at least stopping the spread of the virus Groot brought to Earth from Skaar.

While not heavy on dialouge given that it’s Groot and Hulk, it’s still full of funny moments between the two, especially when Hulk attempts to tell a knock knock joke, refers to the deceased Rocket as a Space Skunk, and says I am Groot is I Am Jerk.

As for the Hulk and Thor fight, it’s a no holds barred fight as Hulk fights a Thor who is fighting the losing battle against the infection. While Groot prevents Hulk from killing Thor, it is unclear the final fate of the Odinson, but it doesn’t look good.

The issue ends with Groot choking Hulk, changing him into the vulnerable Banner and heading into the subway to answer a call for help which most likely is not going to turn into good news for the heroes.

The art and color work in the issue are overall consistent and work well with the story since this is a story that is set in a Marvel Universe that is not the regular continuity but one similar to the cinematic universe and all ages friendly.
