Review

This is it! The final chapter of this life-changing (yeah, I said it) series has arrived, and it does not disappoint in the least! Authors Kevin Smith, Rob David, and Tim Sheridan sping our heads around one final time in this story that focuses on Teela and some…we’ll just say “feelings” that she’s been having from the very moment that He-Man came onto the scene. They take a pretty deep dive into Teela’s story, one that’s always has a strong element of mystery to it. This chapter fits perfectly into this series. It’s that rare comic that delivers what it advertises-revelations. With no disrespect intended, I have to say that this is probably the most well-written Masters of the Universe series in recent memory. The reason is simple-because stuff happens. Sheridan follows the essential “show, don’t tell” rule by revealing things that we never even had questions about! And while the TV series that this is based on is not without controversy in MOTU fandom, at its core both that and this comic are really entertaining stories about these characters that some of us have known and loved for almost 40 years. Sheridan finally breaks the shackles of the curse that’s been placed on licensed comics for decades because he’s been allowed to take the handcuffs off and tell a story where all the toys don’t necessarily get put back in the box the way they were found. This issue is one of the most entertaining of the whole series and it’s a great resolution to the story that’s been running throughout. The writing is both solid and entertaining.

Okay, Mindy Lee, you got me. This is me apologizing to you for even thinking that you” weren’t really the artist for this book”. You’ve proven me wrong with every single panel. This issue has some outright stunning double-page spreads that are actually necessary, they’re not just there to fill up an extra page. You can tell that artist Mindy Lee and author Tim Sheridan really worked together on this book and the series in general. This is an example of a true collaboration between writer and artist with us, the readers, reaping the rewards.

Final Thoughts

An excellent final chapter to this amazing series. Strong writing and delightful art make for an amazing story that shines the spotlight on Teelas as she tries to get to the bottom of some of the feelings that she's had about He-Man for a very long time.
