Recap

A giant manta ray monster escapes from the Dark Multiverse and rains down chaos from Challenger's Mountain all the way to the doorstep of Doc Magnus and his Metal Men. The mystery around just who and what the Nth Metal Man is also deepens as it slowly opens up about itself to Magnus and his gal pal.

Review

DiDio and Davis continue to make an interesting bit of out a potential gimmick. Nth Metal Man is an idea that’s long overdue (like Cyborg being able to fly now) and with this creepy, almost Hannibal Lecter vibe he’s giving off is worth the wait. The psychic nature of Nth metal combined with the sinister nature of the Dark Multiverse makes for one compelling villain, knowing that Doc Magnus has some serious skeletons rattling in his closet and Nth Metal Man is fully aware of them just makes this even more intense.

Just what will come of this makes this book a page turner, if this Nth Metal Man can make the Metal Men truly sentient then what will that mean for Magnus? How pissed are they gonna be when they find out how long they’ve been deceived? So many questions and DiDio and Davis keep you on the hook eager for answers.

As much as I love silly Metal Men stories, this risky play of going against the grain is definitely paying off. So while there’s gonna be some naysayers out there the thing to keep in mind is change is not always a bad thing, especially when it’s done this well.

Final Thoughts

Metal Men #3 [DiDio/Davis/Delecki]

A bizarre yet satisfying take on the Metal Men but one that will have you on the edge of your seat wondering what comes next.
