Recap

Devil Dinosaur is missing. Lunella will have to embark on her greatest adventure yet if she wants to save DD and the city!

Review

Lunella Lafayette, aka Moon Girl, the adorable pre-teen Inhuman, is back on the shelves in a series of one-shots that will see her fight alongside Marvel’s mightiest heroes and attempt to foil their evil counterparts. First up are Miles Morales and Moon Girl!

The book opens up with Moon Girl and DD doing what they do best; deliver their brand of underage justice to New York City’s worst. Things get a bit dicey when DD disappears out of thin air. How does one lose a giant T-Rex in New York City? Well, that’s what we are here to find out, and who better to help Lunella than Spider-Man himself, Miles Morales—written by Mohale Mashigo, with art by Ig Guara, colors by Rachelle Rosenberg, with letters by Travis Lanham, from panel to panel the adventure and laughs never stop.

Mohale Mashigo continues to show her stunning talent in the genre, and her latest offering should come as no surprise. Lunella is already and strong character both mentally and at times physically (with a little help from the moon) and deserves to be written with the same tenacity she exemplifies in the panels. Mohale provides that very same tenacity as she takes us on a non-stop thrill ride that puts you in the middle of it all. Miles and Lunella have such great chemistry that the reader is left with nothing but high hopes that Marvel will make this duo a common team-up. However, Lunella and Miles aren’t the only superheroes we’re dealing with. Ig Guara and Rachelle Rosenberg form like the Avengers and bring Mahingo’s story to life with majestic hues and backgrounds. Altogether, this creative team did a stellar job, and my only complaint is that this is a one-shot.

Final Thoughts

This is such a fun book! I adore Moon Girl and DD, I think she is a strong character that needs the right pen behind her, and I want to see more of Mohale Mashigo write Moon Girl. I enjoy team-up books when the mood is right. And if the mood is Moon Girl and Miles Morales, the mood is always right.
