Review
MultiVersus: Collision Detected #2 expands the cast exponentially as new characters crossover into the DC Universe.
The opening sequence of Batman interrogating Bugs Bunny is both humorous and handled nicely. Bugs plays the funny-man to Batman’s more-than-straight man. The comic timing for both characters is spot on as Batman is obviously frustrated and even makes the comment that Bug Bunny is naked.
Along with the Trinity, Flash shows up in a response to an incident at a Big Belly Burger involving The Condiment King, who is foiled by none other than Shaggy and Scooby Doo, who put The Flas to shame with the speed and amount of burgers they are packing away. The artwork here is fun especially the look of disgust on Barry’s face.
Wonder Woman meets the Wicked Witch of the East and here flying apes who look like they came from Gorilla City. The humor continues as an ape smashes the invisible jet leading Wonder Woman to comment that it’s going to be hard finding all the pieces later.
Superman, after chatting with Scott and Barda’s daughter, returns to Metropolis, where characters from Steven Universe are battling Livewire and Parasite. As this battle concludes, and the issue ends, the arrival of Rick & Morty show up in a very Brainiac-esque ship.
The issue has fewer subtle easter eggs but still flows nicely and there are plenty of references for older readers just the same.
Miller handles the expanding characters well while keeping them on spec.
Final Thoughts
MultiVersus: Collision Detected #2 continues to set the stage as more icomic characters are injected into the story and more are teased fir upcoming issues. Hopefully next issue the action will take off and get into the meat of the story.
