Nightwing #67: Bringing the A-Game

Dan Jurgens is keeping his A game tight as another chapter unfolds of Nightwing’s dark heritage. Now of all the post “Ric Grayson blows” era issues this one is easily the most predictable, safe money was always on Nightwing being able to resist the orders to kill. But Jurgens still finds a way to deliver this without it being cliche or boring. More to the point his ending the issue with a potentially positive yet equally ambiguous grin across Grayson’s face is superb.

The intervention of the GSO a covert government agency and more material for future Nightwing awesome sauce is also great. For starters it’s rare to see governmental organizations that aren’t Task Force X or Checkmate related so that alone is interesting but what they’re revealing themselves overtly to Bludhaven will mean in future issues is also fun to ponder.

In the more immediate future though how the Court will react to Grayson showing signs of defiance does not bode well for him or his friends. Not to mention we all know one way or another they’ll figure out just who Grayson really is after this latest crazy, why they were targeted and if they live long enough it should be interesting to see how this affects the dynamic between them should be all kinds of entertaining.
