Nightwing #69

Recap
After defeating the Talons and their latest attempts to control his mind, the amnesiac Nightwing is now straddling the line between two sets of memories: His true life as Dick Grayson and the false memories of life as Ric Grayson, Talon.
In order to get clarity he's forced to chase after Dr.Haas, the therapist who was supposed to restore his mind but was instead an agent of the Court of Owls! Tracking her down to Zurich, Switzerland all that's left is for Grayson to force answers out of her or die trying.
Review
So overall the direction taking once Jurgens grabbed the reins has been an excellent improvement. This issue though is a bit of a weak link in the chain. While providing some proof that our boy is almost back to himself, this issue reads almost like filler until the new Batman event, The Joker War, is launched. There’s some good elements to that as Joker himself is revealed to get ready to throw a wrench (or crowbar) into the works which promises to be entertaining but it makes one wonder if such a violent confrontation with his past will finally restore the Nightwing we all love or if it will just continue this Jason Bourne mind mystery on further.
The best take away from this though is the attention given to the fact Joker sees the four faux-Nightwings as an affront which can only mean when they meet up with the Clown Prince of Crime, things are gonna get bloody. So that does spark some excitement seeing how it could be possible if at all for the Nightwing gang to survive an opponent as historically dangerous as the Joker himself.
So we’re not left empty handed with Nightwing #69 and as always Ronan Cliquet delivers some vivacious and energetic art but one can’t help but feel a bit teased by this issue.
Final Thoughts
Nightwing #69 is a pretty good issue with decent action and an awesome reveal at the end, but ultimately leaves you wanting for more concrete progression towards Nightwing truly returning.
