Old Man Quill #4
Recap
The Guardians of the Galaxy fight a mind controlled Fing Fang Foom in an arena run by Taskmaster. Surrounded by Earth's Meekest Heroes, can they survive?
Review
The team begins to coalesce and work together in the face of heavy opposition. The inclusion and subsequent freeing of Fin Fang Foom was a ton of fun and a quick glimpse of Doom was exciting. I’m starting to wonder if that is in fact Doom or if it isn’t a Doombot being controlled by Madame Masque? Some interesting stuff this issue with an exciting lead in to next issue, it looks like the Universal Church of Truth is about to catch up!
The art by Ibraim Roberson and Andres Mossa is great, with a splash page (pictured below) of the dragon doing what dragons do being possibly the high point of the series artistically. I am curious where Robert Gill, who did the first three issues (which looked great also besides some minor complaints), got off to, it’s an odd time for an artist switch.
Complaints that they aren’t in space continue to mount but hopefully the involvement of the Universal Church of Truth means we will again see the stars at some point, for now I’m just enjoying the ride.
Final Thoughts
A seriously fun series that doesn't try to be anything it isn't.
