Chapter 1000: Straw Hat Luffy

We have reached the 1000 Chapter of One Piece, the pirate world that we have known and loved is coming to an epic conclusion with the fight with Big Mom and Kaido. Will Luffy be the one that beats Kaido or has it come to the theories that many have made that Zoro will be the one to take him down? All we can do is wait for the next couple of chapters that will be coming out, and the count down for the next chapters begins today. We have fourteen more days until chapter 1001 comes out and we now most know what the Worst Generation will be doing during this battle. For now, we are here to celebrate the release of the milestone of Chapter 1000 and we love that the chapter is called Straw Hat Luffy as well. This does show that we are coming to an end in the Wano arc and that we have come a long way since we first met Luffy.
Review
When the chapter begins, we do see that Luffy has finally made it to the fifth floor before leaving he thanks Shishilian and the other minks for all their help. When we see Marco he has Queen and King trapped in his own Devil Fruit and seeing Zoro released, well, tossed away. While the story moves forward we see Yamato giving Momonosuke the journal of Lord Oden. He tells Momonosuke about the journal and what he had read inside of it. Yamato states that inside is the adventures that Lord Oden had been through along with the experience of the world.
We see another flashback of Ace and Yamato speaking about Luffy, more Ace gushing over Luffy which we all love when he does. Seeing Ace has brought closure to many people and to see him again during the Wano arc has given us a new insight into Ace. This chapter also sees that Ace has enforced the idea that Luffy will end up becoming the King of the Pirates. And while Ace and Sabo laughed at this in the beginning, he knew that it would end up being true seeing that Luffy’s ambitions will push him forward. We also see that Yamato was the one that gave Ace the Vivre Card, one that still haunts One Piece fans to this day.
Yamato tells how Ace left and how one day Ace’s Vivre card disappeared and he learns of his death. The sadness that is filled during the panel shows the friendship that they both had together. We all still mourn Ace’s death even if it did happen so many years ago, we can not help but wonder what would have happened if he had stayed alive. Luffy has finally made it to where Big Mom and Kaido are and standing before them is Eustass Kid, Killer, Trafalgar D. Water Law, and Zoro. And of course, we see Kid boasting how he will be the one the beat Kaido in this sho
wdown. We hear Yamato quoting the words that Lord Oden has written in his journal, “Over 20 years in the future powerful pirates leading the next generation will come swarming into the new world!”
Luffy ignores Big Mom and Kaido as they call out to him, and goes straight to Kin’emon and we see a very classic move from Luffy. Our future Pirate King apologizes to Kin’emon for being late to the fight and promising to put Wano back together for this is the land of his friends. He asks Law to send the rest of the injured part back down so that they will not be in their crosshairs. We see Kaido ready to slam him with his weapon, but with grace and amazement, Luffy dodges and enters in Gear Three. Kaido being slammed into the ground, and the most amazing words are said by Luffy himself.
“I am Monkey D. Luffy and I’m the man who will surpass you to be King of the Pirates!”
And now we have to wait until the next chapter comes out, but this epic battle will be one to be remembered.
Final Thoughts
There have been many comparisons from the first chapter and chapter 1000 with Luffy stating that he will be the Pirate King. However, now that we have some to chapter 1000 we can see the light of this arc ending. And we all now know that this may be truer than any of us have been h
oping for. There have been so much that we have been through throught One Piece, the stories, the emotions and friendships that we have all known. While this very chapter has been a milestone for not just Oda and his staff, but for many of his fans as we have taken this journey together since the release of One Piece. This chapter gave us more insight on not just Ace but the people around Luffy, and Hawkeye Mihawk was right. Luffy has a very dangerous power and that was that he can turn anyone into an alley. Now that Luffy is coming towards the fight with Big
Mom and Kaido, we have to wonder as this arc is coming to an end. Eiichiro Oda has even stated that once Wano Arc ends, that he will be moving to the final arc. Will we finally see what One Piece is? Will Luffy truly become the Pirate King? Will Nami complete her map? Will Robin finally understand the poneglyph? Will Zoro become the greatest swordsmans? Will Usopp be the best sniper?
These are the questions that we have always seeked out as we contnued on this adventure with Eiichiro Oda and the Straw Hat Crew. But, we can't help but feel a sense of sadness to know that our beloved manga will be ending soon. For now, we should enjoy this milestone and cheer on Eiichiro Oda and his staff for bringing us such a wonderful story.
