Review

Peacemaker Tries Hard! #6 is a laugh out loud ending to the DC Black Label mini series. It sticks the landing as a final issue and completes what has been one of the funniest and wildest comic series from DC or anywhere as of late.

Peacemaker Tries Hard! is a series I went into with little information and I couldn’t be more glad that I did. From the first issue to the last, the pages of this series are filled with funny and violent moments that are reminiscent of an ’80s film and the entire series is worth checking out.

Written by Kyle Starks, issue 6 keeps the laughs and epic moments going with the last addition of this miniseries. For those who have been following the series, Peacemaker has been fighting his way through a host of characters to save his dog named Bruce Wayne. With the help of his parole officer (you read that correctly), he is now reunited with Brucie-boy but has to find his way out from the kidnappers.

This book doesn’t just have quick and funny moments, but the additional creative members bring their talent to complete the experience. Steve Pugh (artist), and Jordie Bellaire (colorist), bring their visual talents for a great experience. The panels are cleverly designed making for comedic visual moments, and the colors do such a great job with bringing to life a cute French Bulldog and a radioactive kaiju monster. Additionally, Kris Anka, who has done the main covers, deserves a shout out for a great job with each issue. They have all had the perfect tone and great art to go with this awesome series.

A minor critique I have about this issue is that the ending is a bit rushed. Given this was meant to be a 6-issue series, there is a lot crammed into all 120+ pages of the story, but I enjoyed this series so much that I wasn’t ready for it to end. Maybe it’s me being selfish, but I wouldn’t have minded if this series had gone for a few more issues.

Final Thoughts

I completely loved this series and highly recommend it to anyone even remotely interested.
