What do you do when you’re high and looking at a table full of cash? If you are Ryu Endo talking with his twin sister, you come up with the idea of making an erotic paradise, or as his sister says a porn mall. That’s how the Endo twins became the Endo twins.
Pearl, Kimmy and Ricky head to Mr. Miike’s but before they arrive they have one last stop, to take Kimmy home. Memories are a powerful trigger. Kimmy found Pearl one day with tattoos covered with new tattoos. Pearl does not remember how she got to the shop or how it happens. The tattoos come when Pearl has a flush of emotions.
Before they Head of to Mr. Miike’s place, Pearl and Ricky sit looking over the golden gate bridge. Ricky seems to be taking the situation lightly as he continues to flirt with Pearl. Pearl is more reserved but does manage to steal a kiss from Ricky.
The sun is beginning to rise as Mr. Miike and Mr. Kai ate their breakfast. Pearl and Ricky arrive.Mr. Miike gives the order to shut the cameras off. They Try to explain themselves, but it does little. Mr. Miike tells Pearl that he knows what happens to her when she is flushed. Pearl disregards Mr. Miike new found knowledge of her tattoos; she tries to explain once again. Mr. Miike cuts her off, stating they know things about her mother. He continues to say they have been playing unfairly. Before he is able to go on, The Endo Twins show up, making this next issue the showdown.
Review
The story continues to build, you find out a little more each issue. Bendis does a good job at giving you pieces of the puzzle but not fully giving it to you. I do enjoy that Bendis gave the twins a back story; How they came about.
You start seeing the Endo twins as a character with debt, rather than just another bad guy. Although Mr. Miike is the bad guy, you are lead to believe the twins are against the main character Pearl. However, now you view them as another player in the game. At the end of the day, they are just trying to live their best life.
The development you can see in Kimmy and Pearl’s friendship is done really well. They have a long history of friendship, but they depend on each other, they have been through so much together. Hashtag friendship goals.
Final Thoughts
The story continues to develop and you continue to want more. Michael Gaydos does such a great job with his art. I praise him each week. This issue I was really able to see how Bendis is developing the characters. Pushing it forward. This issue was a great addition to the story arc.
