The only superhero in a world without superheroes, can Peter Cannon find anything in this mundane dimension to defend it against the endless powers of a god???

Review

This is yet another smart and awesome issue in an overall outstanding series. This is quite possibly the best superhero book being published right now. Seriously, if you arent reading Peter Cannon: Thunderbolt, do your self a favor and pick it up.

In escaping his evil alternate version, Peter Cannon has landed himself in yet another alternate universe, one set in the early 90’s where superheroes do not exist. This issue is filled with plenty of great satire on comics and the comic industry as well as a great plot as Cannon and this new universe’s version of him, “Pete,” try to figure out how to stop the impending alien invasion created by the evil Peter Cannon. In a world without superheroes that is just learning of the existence of aliens, can Cannon figure out a way to defeat his god-like doppleganger?

The art in this issue is also brilliantly done, with even the lettering being done in a different style in the 90’s univers while Cannon still appears relatively unchanged. Even speech bubbles differ between Cannon and the characters of the 90’s universe. The use of grayscale and the change in art style makes the scenes in the evil Thunderbolt’s world seem all the more vibrant and fantastical.

This issue was a slight change of pace but was done in a genius way. This is not your average superhero book, a must read.

Final Thoughts

This issue does a great job showing the brilliance of this series in both writing and art. A truly outstanding book.
