Review

I’ve read this issue twice and I’m still in shock…this series is everything I want in a superhero book. From the outstanding cover by Christian Ward, all the way to the mind-blowing last couple pages, this issue was a blast to read.

Gillen has crafted a wonderful villain in the evil Thunderbolt of an alternate dimension. Even as Peter brings a team of heroes with him to take down his evil doppelganger you cant help but feel they are outmatched in all ways. Between his power, his charisma, and his sweet supervillain monologues, the evil Thunderbolt is definitely one that I love to hate.

The art for this issue was on the same level as the previous issues but I loved some of the new things that were done; from a more classic style used for a flashback into the evil Thunderbolts past to alternate art styles used for an alternate universe. The colors jump right out of panel, most notably in the technicolor abyss that is the space between universes.

This third issue has definitely established this title as one of my favorite current titles. Issue #4 can’t come soon enough.

Final Thoughts

This issue is filled with non-stop action and suspense complete with a truly brilliant villain.
