Review

With only three issues under its belt, this book is really creeping up my “can’t wait to read” list. It’s consistent, consistently good, and consistently entertaining. Author Zeb Wells continues this crazy story that has Spider-Man and Spider-Ham traveling through the multiverse. But here’s the thing, it’s not our multiverse. It’s Spider-Ham’s multiverse. I guess it makes sense, right? If our universe has a multiverse, wouldn’t Spider-Ham’s universe have a multiverse? And if that’s the case, wouldn’t every universe have a multiverse? And those multiverses would have multiverses, right? My head seriously hurts right now. But anyway, the “Spideys” are traveling through the multiverse looking to catch up to and catch the villain that’s behind all this. It’s a really creative chapter this issue, full of a ton of solid jokes, guest-stars, and some great lookin’ pages. The book does lag a little bit in the middle, and that’s due to, in my opinion, the creative team carrying a joke a little too far and it not paying off that well.

Artist Will Robson is firing all guns this issue, as he does every issue, and the style changes he makes from one panel to the next and even in the same panels is amazing. It’s seriously like he’s become a better artist in the two shorts months that this book has been out. He goes from a 1930’s cartoon style to an early 80’s animated style to a regular comic book style and a few more that I won’t give away, and all of them look absolutely perfect. None of them look off or wonky, and Spider-Man, who’s the “anchor” in this series, is drawn in the same style throughout the book and never wavers. Just plain amazing art in this book.

Final Thoughts

A solid, fun, entertaining issue. There's a nice recap page, so if you're new to the series, you can get caught up, but do yourself a favor and just buy 1 & 2! You're not gonna regret following this great series.
